The Young Leaders Initiative Program, established in 2018 by the American Committees on Foreign Relations (ACFR), offers students a unique learning experience in Washington, D.C. Participants engage in meetings with diplomatic personnel, discussions on key issues, simulations, and a dinner with a foreign ambassador. ACFR aims to foster a lasting interest in foreign relations through the relationships built during and after the program, which takes place annually in June. This year's program will run from May 31 to June 2, 2023. Details on the itinerary, costs, and other specifics will be provided as they become available.
The Salt Lake Committee on Foreign Relations (SLCFR), a member of ACFR, will provide scholarships of $1500/student for two selected students, covering the registration fee and round trip coach airfare between Salt Lake and Washington D.C. The registration fee of $1050 includes hotel accommodation, most meals, and local transportation in D.C. during the program. Selection of scholarship recipients will be based on their application, an essay, and reference letters. College or graduate students with a strong academic background and an interest in foreign affairs are encouraged to apply.
Applications must be submitted by 5 pm on March 27, 2023, to Woody Spruance at 1862 E Kalina Way Apt 105, Sandy, UT 84092, or via email at woody.spruance@gmail.com. For inquiries, contact Woody via email or phone at (801) 232-2237.
